Headmaster
Mr. SUHANTO, BA, SH
Mr. Suhanto, whose formal education was in Pedagogy, Indonesian Literature, and Law, and whose hobbies include reading, martial art, chess, music, and tennis, might be none of the conventional portraits of school headmasters. But his commitment toward education is inimitable, as well as his dedication toward the school he leads (see the history of our school).
Mr. Suhanto started his career in educational services in 1977, as a young teacher at the public High School of Economics (now of Business Management) of Karanganyar District, Surakarta. He taught at the school until 1992, when he was the Secretary-elect of Comission B at the Karanganyar District's People's Assembly (until 1997). After that, Mr. Suhanto retired from politics and began to spend his entire time and energy to build Wikarya High. He's been the Headmaster of the school since 1998.
The secret to Wikarya's success under Mr. Suhanto's management is perhaps his vast experience in organisations. Mr. Suhanto was the Chairman of Indonesian National Committee between 1988 and 1993, then Chairman of the Karanganyar branch of Young Indonesian Reform (1995-2000), Chairman of Indonesian Martial Art Schools Association (Karanganyar branch; since 1997 until today), and Vice Chairman of Golkar Party of Karanganyar District (1997-1999).
Since 2003, Mr. Suhanto has also been the Second Chairman of the Association of Headmasters of Specialized High Schools, and since 2005 he's been the Advisor of the Indonesia United Movement of Karanganyar District. At the same time, Mr. Suhanto is also working at the magazine Titis as an editor.
